ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To study the association between superior mesenteric artery hemodynamic indexes and scores of lower gastrointestinal symptoms rating scales(LGSRS) in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. METHODS: Totally 142 inpatients with type 2 diabetes with average age of 58.76±12.32 yrs were enrolled, who were treated from August 2016 to March 2018. The history, gender, age, course and BMI were recorded, and fasting blood glucose(FBG), glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c), 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(PBG), total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG), urine ACR and LGSRS were determined. Ultrasonic scanning of mesenteric artery was performed for hemodynamic indexes, including artery inner diameter(ID), peak systolic velocity(PSV), end-diastolic velocity(EDV), and resistance index(RI)at starting part, first level branch, and second level branch from root of the superior mesenteric artery(SMA).Patients were divided into 2 groups according to their LGSRS, 74 patients with LGSRS≥6 were in positive group, and 68 patients with LGSRS0.05), but the age and DD were significantly higher in positive group than in control group(P0.05). 3. There were no significant difference between positive group and control group in ID at starting part and first level branch of SMA, while ID at second level branch was significantly increased in positive group compared with control group [(3.83±0.85)mm vs.(3.53±0.90)mm, P<0.05)].4. RI at first(0.816±0.059 vs 0.842±0.063,P<0.05) and second level branch(0.813±0.076 vs 0.845±0.073, P<0.05) and PSV at first level branch[(110.89±46.89)cm/s vs(95.72±36.59)cm/s,P<0.05] were significantly high in positive group; there were no difference in other hemodynamic indexes between the groups. 5.Adjusted by age,DD,glycemic and lipidemic profile,Logistic regression showed that ID at first(RR=2.092,95%CI 1.080-4.050,P=0.029) and second level branch(RR=0.491,95%CI 0.252-0.955,P=0.36) and EDV at second level branch(RR=0.897,95%CI 0.824-0.976,P=0.012) were independent factors influencing LGSRS(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Ultrosonic hemodynamic abnormalities in the superior mesenteric artery might be important factor in development of lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes.

ABSTRACT

Purpose To investigate the expression of SIX1 in cervical cancer and its biological function. Methods The expression of SIX1 and Ki-67 in 35 cervical cancer tissues,42 cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) tissues and 15 normal cervical tissues was detected by immunohistochemical of EliVision two-step staining.A plasmid vector expressing SIX1 siRNA was constructed and then stably transfected into Hela cells. The expression of SIX1 mRNA and protein was examined by RT-PCR and Western blot method respectively. The proliferation was exanined by MTT.Results The positive rate of SIX1 in cervical cancer was significantly higher than that of CIN and normal cervical tissues and was positively correlation with the proliferation index of Ki-67.After RNAi treatment, the mRNA and protein levels of SIX1 was down-regulated in Hela cells and the proliferation of Hela cells was inhibited. Conclusion SIX1 may play an important role in the occunence and development process of cervical cancer by promoting cervical cancer cell proliferation.

ABSTRACT

Chinese Pharmacopoeia I (2010 edition) covers dosage and usage of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs and decoction pieces, and provides dosage ranges of most of decoction pieces. By using the descriptive statistical method, the article discusses the distribution of maximum dosage, minimum dosage and dosage range of decoction pieces set forth in Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and compares toxic drugs and non-toxic drugs. Altogether 617 drugs are included into the study. Except for 16 decoction pieces whose dosages are not clear, all of the remaining decoction pieces are covered by Chinese Pharmacopoeia, with the maximum common dosage, minimum common dosage and dosage range of 3, 10 and 6 g. Upon comparison, we discovered that Chinese Pharmacopoeia sets stricter standards for toxic drugs than non-toxic drugs. Compared with dosages in classical prescriptions and actual clinical usages, dosage ranges described in Chinese Pharmacopoeia are much narrower. There is no significant difference between drugs that can be used as foods or healthcare foods and other drugs according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVEThis study compared Wistar rat with spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) on the electrophysiology and coupling force of the smooth muscle cells in the cerebral arteriolar segments and observe the influence of 18beta-glycyrrhetinic acid(18beta-GA) on the gap junctions between the arterial smooth muscle cells.

METHODSThe outer layer's connective tissue of the cerebral arteriolar segments was removed. Whole-cell patch clamp recordings were used to observe the 18beta-GA's impaction on the arteriolar segment membrane's input capacitance (C(input)), input conductance (G(input)) and input resistance (R(input)) of the smooth muscle cells.

RESULTS(1) The C(input) and G(input) of the SHR arteriolar segment smooth muscle cells was much higher than the Wistar rats, there was significant difference (P < 0.05). (2) 18beta-GA concentration-dependently reduced C(input) and G(input) (or increase R(input)) on smooth muscle cells in arteriolar segment. IC50 of 18beta-GA suppression's G(input) of the Wistar rat and SHR were 1.7 and 2.0 micromol/L respectively, there was not significant difference (P > 0.05). After application of 18beta-GA concentration > or = 100 micrmol/L, the C(input), G(input) and R(input) of the single smooth muscle cells was very close.

CONCLUSIONGap junctional coupling is enhanced in the SHR cerebral arterial smooth muscle cells. 18beta-GA concentration-dependent inhibits Wistar rat's and SHR cerebral arteriolar gap junctions between arterial smooth muscle cells. The inhibitory potency is similar between the two different rats. When 18beta-GA concentration is > or = 100 micromol/L, it can completely block gap junctions between arteriolar smooth muscle cells.

ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the prevalences and risk factors of hyperuricemia(HUA)and gout among residents aged≥20 years in Shandong coastal areas. Methods A random stratified cluster sampling was conducted, and 5003 inhabitants were investigated for prevalences of HUA and gout in Qingdao,Yantai,Weihai, Rizhao and Dongying. Results (1)The prevalence of HUA was 13.19%,after standardization according to the Shandong population in 2000,standardized rate was 13.27%,in which the prevalence in males was 18.32% and females 8.56%.The prevalence of gout was 1.14% and the standardized rate was 1.10%,in which the prevalence in males was 1.94% and females 0.42%;(2)Serum uric acid was(343.4?84.5)?mol/L in normal males and (258.9?70.9)?mol/L in normal females.Serum uric acid was(469.4?48.1)?mol/L in males with HUA and (399.7?104.9)?mol/L in females with HUA.In gout group, serum uric acid in males and females was respectively(502.4?106.8)?mol/L and(403.5?52.7)?mol/L;(3)The prevalence of gout in patients with HUA was 8.64%;(4)Non-conditional logistic regression analysis showed that frequency and quantity of alcohol intake were independent risk factors for males in the HUA group, while HDL-C and farming were protective factors. As for females, age and hypertension were independent risk factors of HUA.Similarly,HDL-C was a protective factor;(5)In HUA patients,65% had hypertension,53% hyperlipidemia,30% glucose metabolic disorder,48% overweight and 10% obesity. In gout patients,57% had hypertension,61% hyperlipidemia,20% glucose metabolic disorder,56% overweight and 7% obesity. Conclusion The prevalences of HUA and gout are significantly increased in Shandong coastal areas in recent years.Restricting the intake of sea foods rich in purine such as seashell, reducing the intake of alcohol especially beer, reducing body weight and abdominal obesity, correcting lipid metabolic disorder and controlling hypertension are important measures in preventing and treating hyperuricemia and gout.
